Jennifer Newton

Jennifer Newton is a seasoned public relations professional specializing in digital media and integrated marketing communications. Her experience and skills include business development, team management, public relations, social media management, corporate communications, internal communications, branding, event planning, content development and copywriting. Throughout her career, Newton has worked with and for notable clients such as Murad Skincare, Michael Stars, Mazda, Nissan, City of Hope, American Cancer Society, Hill + Knowlton, Impact Giving and 908 Magazine.

At CSULB, Newton teaches JOUR 425: The Business of Journalism and JOUR 470: Digital Tools for Public Relations. Additionally, she is the business, advertising and public relations adviser for Beach Media, the business department of the Daily Forty-Niner, DIG MAG, ENYE (formerly DÍG en Español) and Beach TV News, and an academic adviser for the JPR Department. Her most notable achievements at CSULB thus far were coaching the 2018 PRSSA-LB Bateman Case Study Competition Team to a third-place win and being awarded the John and Phyllis Jung Part-Time Faculty Award in 2021.

Newton received her bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in psychology from California State University, Long Beach (GO BEACH!), and holds a degree in apparel manufacturing management from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. She is currently earning her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at CSULB and lives in Long Beach with her husband, daughter, dog and cat.
