Entertaining America: Jews in Popular Culture
September 25 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Jewish achievement in America spans the fields of finance, law, medicine, literature, and education. But perhaps the greatest impact that Jews have had on American culture has been in the arts and entertainment. In his talk, Dr. Schwartz will particularly examine the accomplishment and effect of Jewish entertainers on music and comedy in America.
Dr. Schwartz joined the CSULB History Department in 1987, where he taught for nearly a quarter century. Since retiring, Dr. Schwartz has taught overseas as part of the Fullbright Specialist program, has given lectures on cruise ships, and is currently Executive Director of the California Council for History Education.
Jewish Studies talks are free and open to the public. If you have questions about this talk or any of our other upcoming events this semester, please contact: Jeffrey Blutinger at Jeffrey.Blutinger@csulb.edu
