Teach-in: Debt by Design: Unpacking the Real Cost of Higher Education
February 12 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
This teach-in will address issues related to the costs of higher education, exploring “cost” as both the potential financial burdens of higher education and the socio-political pressures and consequences that accompany such burdens, as faced by students, faculty, staff, and families.
The teach-in event will feature three speakers followed by discussion groups. Tabling by campus and community groups will be ongoing throughout the event.
The teach-in is sponsored by CSULB faculty members, students, and staff that are committed to education and reasoned debate as central to a well-functioning and representative American
democracy. Considering ourselves to be part of an “Interdisciplinary Public Square,” our group plans events that seek to promote and maintain spaces where participants assemble not only to express opinions, but also to listen, learn, and negotiate ideas.
