American Indian Studies: Community Forum

The American Indian Studies Program announces a community forum in response to the recent Union Weekly article. The speakers at the community forum will address the following question: What is the real meaning of the American Indian traditions demeaned in the recent Union Weekly article?

Confirmed speakers:

Paula Starr (Cheyenne): Executive Director of Southern California Indian Center Inc., Indian Frybread Vendor at the 2011 Cal State Puvungna Pow Wow and CSULB Alumna

Georgiana Sanchez (Chumash/O’odham): Professor of American Indian Studies at CSULB, participant at the 2011 Cal State Puvungna Pow Wow, and CSULB Alumna

Saginaw Grant, whose image was published along with the Union Weekly article, will also be a speaker at this event. Grant is a well known traditional dancer, actor, and respected member of the Sac and Fox, Iowa and Otoe Missouria Nation.
