Beach Forensics Makes Wake at the Franklin R. Shirley Classic

This past weekend, Beach Forensics competed at the Franklin R. Shirley Classic at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The tournament fielded 134 of the nation’s top teams, made up of 268 competitors. The team of Diego Flores (Senior, Political Science) and Curtis Ortega (Sophomore, Africana Studies) finished preliminary debates as the second seed, going on to finish in 5th place. Ortega was the 3rd place individual speaker, and Flores was the tournament’s 1st place overall speaker. This marks the second consecutive season Flores has been awarded the top speaker at the nation’s most prestigious and competitive policy debate tournament in the fall semester! The duo picked up victories against the University of West Georgia, Wayne State University, Gonzaga University, George Mason University, Dartmouth College, Wake Forest University, and the University of Kansas along the way.
