What is the Global Studies Institute?

The CSULB Global Studies Institute is founded on the premise that students graduating from all of CSULB’s diverse programs will have been sensitized to global issues and hold relevant global competencies.  It is dedicated to infusing international curricular and co-curricular innovations throughout campus -international education support, faculty development, international internships, measurement, and research.

Today’s employers are looking not only for students with strong analytical reasoning, critical thinking, writing and communication skills, but those with a firm knowledge of current global issues as well as their implications for the future.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Global Studies Institute is to increase student Global Competencies – the knowledge, skills, and disposition to understand and be innovative and act creatively on issues of global significance – as part of comprehensive campus international education in a world where every profession is global.
