Chicano and Latino Studies: Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Las Hijas de Cuauhtemoc

April 19, 2011

All are welcome to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Las Hijas de Cuauhtemoc.

Historic CSULB Alumni Hijas de Cuauhtemoc ushered in an era of Chicana Feminist Activism and Scholarship. Hijas was one of the first Chicana student groups in the United States, and was formed here at CSULB.

Hijas: Anna Nieto-Gomez, Adelaida del Catillo, and Leticia Hernandez

Hijas will be joined by CSULB Alumni Maylei Blackwell, whose new book Chicana Power: Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement contemplates the significance of the contributions made by Hijas.

CSULB students from Con Fem will speak about their own formation and history as well.
