2017-18 Economics Department Scholarships

The 2017-2018 academic year Economics Scholarship opportunities are currently available and the application deadline is Monday, March 13, 2017 by 12:00pm noon.

Please review the “Economics Scholarship Criteria 2017-2018” also listed below for information to determine if you qualify to apply for an Economics scholarship.  If you meet the criteria and wish to apply, please complete the 2017-2018 Economics Scholarship Application Forum and Instructions.

Economics Scholarship Criteria 2017-2018 Academic Year

Settlemyer Family Scholarship  – $1200

  • Current CSULB student majoring in Economics for semester receiving scholarship
  • Undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 units with upper division status
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Financial need is a criterion. Applicant must provide Federal Student Aid FAFSA electronic SAR Report, demonstrating financial need or comparable proof.            

Gene R. Simonson Endowed Scholarship in Economics  – $1350

  • Current CSULB student majoring or minoring in Economics for semester receiving scholarship
  • Undergraduates with junior or senior class status enrolled in a minimum of 12 units
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Ray & Marge Lancaster Scholarship  –  $2500 

  • Current CSULB undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Economics for semester receiving scholarship
  • Undergraduates must be enrolled in 12 units; graduates must be enrolled in 6 units
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Financial need is a criterion. Applicant must provide Federal Student Aid FAFSA electronic SAR Report, demonstrating financial need or comparable proof.

Simonson Economics  Department Scholarship – $500

  • Current CSULB student majoring or minoring in Economics for semester receiving scholarship
  • Undergraduates with junior or senior class status enrolled in a minimum of 12 units
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Powell Endowed Scholarship –  $600

  • Current CSULB undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Economics for semester receiving scholarship
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 

Seniors graduating in May 2017 are not eligible for 2017-2018 academic year scholarships.

All students are encouraged to also apply for other scholarships offered through the Center for Scholarship Information.

ESA’s First Fall ’16 Meeting with Speakers from Boeing

The Economics Student Association (ESA – Econ club) will be hosting their first meeting of Fall 2016 on Thursday, September 8 at 3:30 pm in SSPA, room 112. During the first half-hour, ESA will hold their annual officer elections (click here if you are interested in running) and will discuss events and opportunities for the upcoming semester. Following club items, there will be a guest speaker presentation from Boeing about their 2017 summer business internship program.
