Advising

FALL 2024 ADVISING

These are undergraduate advising hours for the Fall 2024 semester. Regular advising begins Monday, August 26, 2024 (first day of classes) and ends Wednesday, December 11 (last day of classes). Official advising hours end with the last day of classes, so if you need help after that e-mail the appropriate advisor(s).

We have four advisors for undergraduate majors and credential students this semester:

• If you are a English Literature, Creative Writing, or Rhetoric and Composition major, you can see Prof. Rene Treviño or Prof. Norbert Schürer. Both advisors have walk-in in-person advising hours, so you don’t need an appointment (but feel free to e-mail if you want one).
• If you are an English Education major, you should see Prof. Stephanie Johnson.
• If you are interested in the English Single Subject Credential Program, you should see Prof. Kasey Spencer.

Advisors can generally help with concerns regarding your major, general education, and progress towards graduation. They can address problems with transfer credit and study abroad courses. They can talk about changing your English major or minor and discuss different options within English, including the Single Subject Credential Program. Whenever you visit or contact an advisor, please have your student ID number ready or include it in your message.

We have two advisors for graduate students this semester:

• For the Master of Arts (MA), please contact Prof. Dennis López at dennis.lopez@csulb.edu. His advising hours in Fall 2024 are Wednesdays 4 pm – 6 pm and by appointment over Zoom.
• For the Master of Fine Arts (MFA), please contact Prof. David Hernandez at david.hernandez@csulb.edu. His advising hours in Fall 2024 are Mondays 10 am – 12 pm by appointment.
