Geo-SpACE Lab
Mission
The GeoSpatial Analysis for Community Engagement (GeoSpACE) Lab is housed in CSU Long Beach’s Department of Geography. In support of the Department Mission Geo-SpACE strives towards spatial justice in Long Beach and the surrounding areas. We endeavor to partner with community organizations to solve our most pressing local problems by harnessing the research capacity of the university and providing high impact educational experiences. In service of this mission, we aim to:
- Support and empower the community, in particular communities of color, through partnerships that leverage academic research and community-based knowledge and expertise to achieve just outcomes
- Inspire and prepare students to embark on careers in public service by generating co-learning opportunities for students to engage in problem-solving with community organizations using cutting edge geo-spatial technology and innovation
- Enhance interdisciplinary team-based approaches to applied research addressing our most pressing issues
