Betty Villalobos Chavarria

Betty Chavarria is a Special Sections Visual Editor leading the creative strategy for ambitious themed digital packages at The Washington Post. In her role she is involved in story development, art direction, digital and print design, photo editing, coding and project management of multi-story projects. She joined the Post in 2021 as a designer focused on developing reader experiences for Web, print and social platforms. Before joining the Post, she was a lead designer at the Los Angeles Times and a lead designer at Gannett Design Studio in Nashville. During her time at CSULB, she was the Design Editor for the Daily 49er and contributed written pieces to Dig Magazine. She graduated in 2013.
