Christina Merino

I’m Christina Merino, first generation college graduate and proud Latinx journalist. I began my educational career at community college, Antelope Valley College, and graduated in 2020 with an AAT in Communications. I transferred to Cal State Long Beach and virtually interned at an online publication, Women Working, where I would write articles about nutrition, exercise, entertainment and more. I also virtually interned with a talent agency, Find Your ID NYC, as a Journalism Intern writing press releases and feature articles. During my time at CSULB I was on the editorial team for the Daily Forty-Niner. My first semester participating I was the Arts & Life assistant and then I was Opinions Editor. I also worked with the JPR Department as an Internship Ambassador. I graduated in May 2022 with a B.A. in Journalism. Currently, I’m News Assistant at the Long Beach Press-Telegram and Grunion Gazette. I am also a reporter for the P-T on the education beat, which covers Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach City College, Cal State Long Beach and more. I also report for other Southern California News Group papers like the Daily Breeze.
