BQE Orientation Meeting FA21
September 22, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
For students taking the BQE this FA21, there is an orientation meeting scheduled for:
-
BQE Orientation Meeting: Wednesday, September 22nd 2021, 5:00–6:00pm in MHB–915
Note that the two texts for this fall semester will be:
-
-
Text 1: Bruno Latour (2004), Why has critique run out of steam? From matters of fact to matters of concern. Critical Inquiry, 30(2): 224–248.
-
Text 2: Hilary Putnam (1973), Meaning and reference. Journal of Philosophy, 70(19): 699–711.
-
Once announced, students will be responsible for retrieving the correct version of the texts. For certain pedagogical reasons, the Graduate Committee deliberately does not post them anywhere. Both articles/chapters will be easily available, e.g., via the CSULB library, BeachReach, and so forth. If assistance is needed, please speak with Prof. Wright. Tentatively, the text and analytic portions of the FA21 exam are scheduled for:
-
BQE Text Exam: Saturday, November 20th 2021, 1:00–4:00pm [locale tbd, either via Zoom or else in LIBR]
-
BQE Analytic Exam: Sunday, November 21st 2021, 1:00–4:00pm [locale tbd, either via Zoom or else in LIBR]
If you are planning on taking either portion of the BQE this semester but have a schedule conflict with either of these two times, please let Prof. Wright know at your earliest convenience. There will be a call for RSVPs in November.
