Teaching Profession
Ruth Anderson-Clifford (BA 2012) teaches first grade at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, South Dakota.
Donnie Bessom (MA 2012) is an adjunct professor of political science at Long Beach City College, where he teaches American Government. He is also involved in environmental curriculum development.
Megan Blash (MA 2009) is the Social Science department chair at a local high school, where she is also the curriculum leader and teacher of both AP U.S. Government and Politics, and AP Macroeconomics.
Andrea Bobadilla (BA 2010) earned an M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA and teaches at St. Monica Catholic High School in Santa Monica, CA.
Corey Booth (BA 2001) teaches American government as an adjunct professor in the State Center Community College District, where he has been for seven years.
Joshua Casper (MA 2016) is a tenure-track faculty member teaching political science at El Camino Community College.
Brittany Conrad (MA 2011) teaches at Long Beach City College and Pasadena City College, and is the Events Coordinator for Barks of Love Animal Rescue.
Stephanie Crahen (BA 2006 / MA 2009) teaches English in Italy for the Cambridge Centre of English. In early 2016, she met with her former mentor, Dr. Mary Caputi, while Dr. Caputi was on leave in Florence.
Clifton Dorsey (BA 2004; MA 2006) graduated from Southwestern Law School and is an instructor at Westwood College in Torrance, CA
Jim Espinoza (MA 2013) has been hired at Long Beach City College as an Adjunct Professor in the Political Science Department. He also is a volunteer instructor at the Osher Life Long Institute at CSULB, teaching American government and current events.
Allison Evans (MA 2006) received her PhD in political science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Western New Mexico University (WNMU). In 2015, she was named WMNU’s “Professor of the Year” (as determined by students’ votes), and in 2016 she was nominated for WNMU’s “Excellence in Teaching Award” (which is awarded by a faculty committee).
Laurie Houske (MA 2006) teaches political science at El Camino Community College. In spring 2016, she mentored current POSC MA student Joshua Casper in a “college teaching practicum.” Jacob Lenerville (MA 2011) is a social science teacher, and an instructor at Barstow Community College. He is also Adjunct Professor of History/Political Science at Vanguard University of Southern California.
Richard Lozano (BA 2007) graduated from the Single Subject Teaching Credential program at UCI with a 4.0 GPA, and is teaching at Reach Academy in the Santa Ana Unified School District.
Natalie Masuoka (BA 2002) has received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at Tufts University. Her co-authored book, Natalie Masuoka and Jane Junn, The Politics of Belonging: Race, Public Opinion, and Immigration (University of Chicago Press, 2013), won the APSA Ralph J. Bunche Award for “the best scholarly work in political science that explores the phenomenon of ethnic and cultural pluralism.”
Stephen Nicholas (BA 1989) earned his MA and PhD at the Ohio State University, and currently is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of Political Science at California State University, San Marcos.
Karen Pitakdumrongkit (BA 2006) earned her PhD at UC Santa Barbara and currently is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Multilateralism Studies, at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Before joining RSIS, Pitakdumrongkit worked for the Kenan Institute Asia, analysing trade and industry data concerning the impact of the proposed EU-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement on Thailand’s industries.
Othman (Ozzie) Ramadan (MA 2013) teaches 9th grade English at a local high school.
Saul Rodriguez (BA 2011) earned his MA in Teaching in 2014, at Dominican University, in River Forest, IL. From 2011-2014, he was a bilingual 4th/5th grade teacher for Teach For America at Eugene Field Elementary, in Chicago, IL. From 2013-2014, he was the bilingual lead teacher for the program, managing and coordinating instruction and bilingual curriculum development, and ensuring that the school’s bilingual program was in compliance with all federal, state, and Chicago Public Schools policies. At present, he is a Citizenship Class Instructor for Catholic Charities in Los Angeles, CA.
Frederick Strain (BA 1973) taught at the U.S. War College and is a retired Air Force colonel.
