Mayor Garcetti and Luis Flores

Luis Flores earned Political Science course credit at CSULB while working for the office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. During the 2017-2018 academic year, Luis served as the DACA & Know Your Rights Coordinator for Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. In this position, Luis was responsible for monitoring federal and state policy regarding DACA and convening with legal partners and non-profit organizations to discuss strategies and initiatives to better support Los Angeles communities. He organized community forums, workshops, legal clinics, and other public events to ensure that constituents in Los Angeles are well informed and connected to legal representation. He also helped develop some of Mayor Garcetti’s major immigration policies and initiatives, such as Executive Directive 20, the Community Resource Guide for Immigrant Angelenos, and the Know Your Rights workshop campaign.
