Why Students Chose the CSULB, MSHF Program

There are numerous reasons to choose to apply to Cal State Long Beach for the Masters of Science in Human Factors, but here are some first-hand experiences from our current students.

“I chose the CSULB Human Factors program because of how HFES Conference collagewilling the professors at CSULB were to offer me opportunities & advice to further my educational experience. I felt extremely welcomed and encouraged to pursue graduate school. My favorite experience is when I joined Dr. Vu’s CUDA Lab during my last undergraduate semester. I learned a lot of very useful and marketable skills that strengthened my CV/Resume.”- Khang Pham

“I was lucky to have chosen to pursue my undergraduate education at CSULB. If I had not, I would not have known that Human Factors existed. Once I took PSY 327 Introduction to Human Factors to fulfill a requirement, I knew I wanted to continue in this field. The faculty are knowledgeable, produce amazing and engaging lectures, and are always happy to provide extra support when I need it. One of the professors even regularly sends out internship and job opportunities to all the Human Factors students. This program is a great kicking off point to a career and I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity.” -Becka Chompff

HF Conference“I was very interested in working for the CUDA lab. The other program that I had applied to did not have a lab like CUDA at all, which wasn’t very helpful because I knew that I wanted to gain hands-on experience with usability testing. Additionally, I thought it was great to see that each one of the faculty members researched various topics within the field.”- Yvette Apatiga
