How did your studies in language and culture prepare you for your current job?

My CSULB courses prepared me become a better language instructor. I get to share my knowledge from my literature and linguistic courses with my students. I am able to help my students acquire a new language that prepares them for their future. I have taught some honors courses for Spanish-speakers, and I can say that my literature courses have helped me by explaining more precisely literary movements from Spain and Latin American countries. Lastly, I can also say that my linguistic courses have prepared me to develop methods and strategies in teaching the target language in a meaningful and efficient method.

Do you have any advice for students considering language and culture study?

Always believe in yourself. Studying languages is a great opportunity to growth in many aspects. Such as, meeting new people and discovering new cultures.

In addition, learning a new language will help you understand your own language and will allow you to learn about other cultures. In my opinion, language is the key to understand society and the bridge to discover other cultures around the world.
