Healing Justice Through the Arts

April 21, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

We invite you and your students to join us for “Healing Justice Through the Arts,” a Scholarly Intersections event hosted by Drs. May Lin and Janet Muñiz in Asian & Asian American Studies and Sociology on Thursday, April 21st, 2022 | 2-3:15pm. Register here to receive the Zoom link: tinyurl.com/SIApril21

This workshop features Narinda Heng, a queer Khmer American writer, potter, and outdoor educator and Sarah Rafael Garcia, author, community educator, and founder of Barrio Writer & LibroMobile. Speakers will share readings and reflections on their work as pertinent to healing and coalition building across multiple communities- including immigrant, refugee, Latinx, Southeast Asian, and other Asian American communities, especially in the Orange County context. They will also facilitate interactive and reflective prompts to create a space for participants’ own artistic and strategic practice. Finally, participants will have an opportunity to pose questions to our speakers. We hope that the CLA community will enjoy engaging in the power of healing and hope through the arts, especially amidst these trying times.
