Hitler in Los Angeles: How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America

November 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The CSULB Jewish Studies Program welcomes Dr. Steven J. Ross back to Long Beach for his talk “Hitler in Los Angeles: How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America.”  This will be an in-person event on Monday, November 29th, at 7 pm at the Alpert JCC (3801 E. Willow St., Long Beach, CA 90815).

His talk will be based on his most recent book, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History.  Los Angeles, home of Hollywood, was a prime target of the Nazis who plotted to seize local military resources and kill the city’s Jews in the event of war with the United States.  Their plans were foiled by a local lawyer, Leon Lewis, who ran his own network of spies who infiltrated every Nazi and fascist group in Los Angeles.  Uncovering their plans, Lewis and his spies passed on the information that they gathered, foiling the Nazis plans.

Please remember that the Alpert JCC requires all attendees to be vaccinated and wear a mask indoors. You will be asked to show proof of vaccination to enter the building.  There is no need to rsvp and as always, our events are free and open to the public.
