Fall 2012 Russian Film Series: "900 Days"

October 1, 2012

The Russian documentary film 900 Days (2011, 78 min.), directed by Jessica Gorter, addresses the Blockade of Leningrad during World War II. It presents an emotional picture of survivors whose personal memories are overshadowed by the heroic myth upheld by the authorities. The myth painfully contrasts with the horrific truth that the survivors were forbidden to mention.

This film will be presented by Dr. Andrew Jenks (HIST).

Light refreshments will be provided.
