Film Screening: Robert Lemelson's "Afflictions — Culture and Mental Illness in Indonesia" (Volume 1)

Afflictions: Culture and Mental Illness in Indonesia is a 6-part series of ethnographic films on severe mental illness in Indonesia, based on material drawn from 12 years of person-centered research by director and anthropologist Robert Lemelson. The series, which follows 6 individuals of different ages and backgrounds, explores the relationship between culture, mental illness, and first-person experience.

“Volume 1: Psychotic Disorders” will be shown on Tuesday, November 1st, and “Volume 2: Neuropsychiatric Disorders” will be shown on Wednesday, November 2nd.
