Film Screening: "You Belong Everywhere — Portrait of a Living Poet"

April 11, 2012

You Belong Everywhere: Portrait of a Living Poet is a rock-n-roll concert film that looks deep into the dilemma of American performance poet Derrick C. Brown who must struggle to survive even as he finds success. Filmmaker and friend Stephen Latty (The Drums Inside Your Chest, 2009) documents the poet’s visionary performances as he blazes a new cultural path for contemporary poetry in pursuit of his ultimate dream: to make a living as a poet.

As a poet, Brown has toured with Comedian David Cross, Richard Swift, and Indie rock acts, including Cold War Kids, Pink Mountaintops, and The Decemberists. He has also performed at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival with the Flaming Lips and Animal Collective. Write Bloody Publishing, founded by Brown, is the first indie press to be reviewed with favor by Forbes magazine.

Following the film screening, Brown will host a reading and Q&A session.

The event is free and open to all.
