Guest Lecture by Dr. Solveiga Armoskaite: “Fieldwork in Blackfoot — How Nothing Can Lead to Something”

Solveiga Armoskaite, a former MA student in the Department of Linguistics at CSULB recently earned her doctorate degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and is currently a Visiting Scholar at UCLA. She has been a member of a group studying the Blackfoot language, an endangered language of Canada, and she will talk and answer questions about her work.

Her presentation will introduce the Blackfoot language, its endangered status, and efforts to document and revitalize the language. She will discuss her work on the Blackfoot project at UBC, how she arrived at her dissertation topic (the curious behavior of Blackfoot adjectives), and her research methods and findings.
