Jewish Studies Lecture: West Coast Jewish History

CSULB’s Jewish Studies Program is pleased to present Dr. Ellen Eisenberg and Dr. Ava Kahn on Monday evening, , at the Alpert Jewish Community Center.  Their talk is entitled “Jews of the Pacific Coast:  Reinventing Community on America’s Edge.”

Dr. Eisenberg is a professor of history at Willamette University in Oregon, and is a scholar of western Jewish history, including a study of Jewish responses to the Japanese internment.  Dr. Kahn is an independent scholar based in the Bay area, and helped assemble the “Jewish Life in the American West” exhibition at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles.  Both are authors of a recent book on the history of the Jews of the Pacific Coast.
