Latino Transnational Experience in the Caribbean: Carlos Alberto Torres — "Political Activism and Art in Puerto Rico"

Carlos Alberto Torres is a ceramic artist, painter, poet, and pro-independence activist.

Torres was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and he is one of the founders of the Pedro Albizu Campos Alternative High School in Chicago. Torres spent 30 years in federal jail, where he learned art. He remains a well-known artist and activist in Puerto Rico.

Torres will present in two back-to-back classes: the first will be held in LA5 244 from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM, and the second, in LA5 149 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM.
