Lecture: Dr. Marjorie Harness Goodwin’s “Language Practices for Constituting the Local Social Order in Peer Groups”

Dr. Marjorie Harness Goodwin is a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is a linguistic anthropologist and author of The Hidden Life of Girls: Games of Stance, Status, and Exclusion. Dr. Goodwin’s ethnographic research focuses on conflict and practices of social exclusion in the language and embodies behavior of children as they engage in playground games and everyday conversations.
