Students to visit NASA

The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) joins forces with the College of Engineering (COE) to provide two special programs for middle-school girls to develop their skills and inspire them to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers.  The first program, Engineering Girls, will bring ten 8th grade students from the local area to CSULB for a one-week residential program during the week of June 20, 2010.  The second program will provide a special opportunity for 30, fifth grade girls from the Long Beach Unified School District to visit the Kennedy Space Center (Cape Canaveral, Florida) in July 2010 for an education forum, hands-on activities, and a tour of the center. Both programs are being sponsored by NASA through CLA’s Center for Human Factors in Advanced Aeronautics Technologies (CHAAT) and COE’s Women-in-Engineering Outreach Program.  For more information, please visit: http://www.csulbchaat.org/.
