Raphael Mark Hanson, Emeritus Professor in Psychology, Passes Away

After earning a doctoral degree from UC Berkeley, Dr. Raphael Mark Hanson came to California State University, Long Beach in 1961 as a founding member of the psychology department. His work emphasized statistical rigor in the social sciences. In addition to serving as department chair, Dr. Hanson remained active on campus for many years. His interests included economics, politics, classical music, Asian art, philanthropy, and tennis. His collection of Chinese and Japanese paintings was donated to the CSULB library.

Dr. Hanson was a much-loved teacher, mentor, brother, uncle, and friend.
