Overview: Here you can find gender affirming medical, mental health, social, advocacy and activism groups that are in the area and online.

A Little History: This list was created by Dr. Lauren Jensen, Dr. Lore LeMaster, Dr. Zachary DuBois, and Rusty Rust in collaboration with Student Health Services (SHS) in 2017. It has been updated by SHS case manager, Kristen Hutchcroft each year until 2021 when Dr. Lauren Jensen took over updates in collaboration with TAC.

Updating Pronouns

  • For Students:
  • For Faculty & Staff: There is currently no way to update pronouns in the system. However, you are able to include your pronouns in your Outlook signature so that others know your pronouns.

Updating Pronouns on Zoom

  • You can update your Zoom pronouns to show automatically so that you don't have to update every time you log in. You can find instructions on their website.

Update Email

  • For Students: Email will be updated to reflect updates to first name within 24-48 hours. If this does not occur, you can contact the Technology Help Desk and they will assist you.
  • For Faculty & Staff: Email will be updated to reflect updates to your name within 24-48 hours. If this does not occur, you can use these steps to do so manually.

Family Medicine Transgender Clinic (Wednesday Afternoons)

  • Provides care specifically to the transgender and non-binary community of Long Beach. Wide range of services, including gender-affirming hormone therapy, primary care, preventative care and medical screenings. They see all patients regardless of insurance type or ability to pay, and work with patients to find health care coverage if needed. Open every Wednesday afternoon, call to make an appointment.

Transgender Empowerment & Advocacy (Student Organization)

  •  Transgender Empowerment & Advocacy is an inclusive space specifically for CSULB students that are transgender, non-binary, gender-nonconforming, genderqueer, questioning, or anyone else along those spectrums.

Rainbow Cafe

  •  Rainbow Cafe is a virtual drop-in space hosted by CAPS for Long Beach State students who identify with the LGBTQIAP+ community and those who are looking for a place to explore their sexual, gender, and/or romantic identities. It is not a therapy group but is a place to connect with other students and feel supported. You are not required to join the Zoom meeting every week and it is okay to arrive late and/or leave early. If you do join late, you will be asked to introduce yourself once there is a natural break in the conversation. Rainbow Cafe does not meet during finals week, school breaks, campus holidays, or summer.   • The mission of the Queer and Trans FSA (QTFSA) is to facilitate community-building, resource development, and advocacy for all faculty and staff members of our (a)gender, (a)sexual, and (a)romantic communities. We see gender, sexual, racial, and economic justice as intertwined, and are committed to pursuing intersectional approaches to recruitment, retention, professional development, and all other aspects of campus life. Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer + Campus Climate Committee (LGBTQIA+CCC)

  • The mission of the LGBTQIA+CCC  is to collaborate with all segments of the University to recruit, retain, and promote the success of LGBTIQ+ students, staff, faculty, and administrators. The CLGBTIQ+CC also supports educational programs that promote increased understanding of LGBTIQ+ and other diversity issues for all students in preparation for careers in diverse settings.
