The Department of Romance, German and Russian Languages and Literatures (RGRLL): A Thank You Message to Those who Contributed to the Success of the Poetry without Borders Event
December 9, 2010The Poetry without Borders: Musings about Nature event was a tremendous success! On Thursday, December 2nd, approximately 160 students and faculty members filled the Anatol Center to attend the event.
The Department of Romance, German and Russian Languages and Literatures (RGRLL) wishes to acknowledge the Education Office of the Consulate of Spain for sponsoring the event. Without such generous support, the RGRLL department would not be able to serve as many students as we do. We are grateful for the commitment of the Consulate to our department and our students.
Moreover, we thank the numerous faculty members from the RGRLL, History, and Comparative World Literature and Classics departments who participated by reading (and singing) poems, encouraging students to read poems, and motivating students to write their own poetry for the competition. Kim Glick’s and Cindy McCarty’s support helped make the event possible as well.
Finally, our warm gratitude is owed to Rita Palacios and Enrico Vettore, whose dedication to student-centered poetry events has added immeasurably to the cultural richness of our department in the last three semesters.
With our deepest admiration and thanks,
The Department of Romance, German and Russian Languages and Literatures
