The Jewish Studies Program: Rabbi Shai Cherry's "Reason and Faith — Jewish Postures Toward Science"

October 17, 2011

CSULB’s Jewish Studies Program is pleased to welcome Rabbi Shai Cherry, Ph.D. to Long Beach to present his lecture “Reason and Faith:  Jewish Postures Toward Science.”

Rabbi Cherry received his Ph.D. in Jewish Thought from Brandeis and his rabbinical ordination from the American Jewish University. His research has focused on the nexus between science and Judaism, and he has studied the Jewish response to evolutionary theory in the 19th and 20th centuries.  His talk promises to be a fascinating examination of Jewish approaches to science, with examples from the Bible and prayerbook.

Please note that this event will begin slightly later than usual: 7:45 PM. As always, Jewish Studies lectures are free and open to the public.

This event is sponsored by the Jewish Studies Program, the Alpert Jewish Community Center, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Long Beach and West Orange County.
