Day 2: Lectures, Lectures, Lectures
June 12, 2012Day 2 began with a lecture from Dr. Lipo. We learned about tables! Just kidding. But really, we learned about how the idea of a table (the ideational) and the actual table (the phenomenological) are two very separate things that can influence science! After a long, relaxed lunch break, we headed back to lecture, this time with Dr. Lee. This lecture was focused on the fundamentals and applications of remote sensing. I learned most of this information from my remote sensing course last semester, but it was definitely a nice “reminder” after a few weeks of summer. Mike Ferris, a grad student at CSULB, gave a tutorial on Erdas Imagine, a raster data processing software. Although this program was new to me, it was very similar to Envi 4.8, the image processing software that UMD uses. We took a break for dinner (really, really yummy BBQ meatballs), when we found out that our last lecture was canceled. Score!
Currently, my classmates and I are sitting in the lounge trying to finish the two homework assignments, so I’ve got to stop blogging and go finish the homework!
