Clariza Ruiz De Castilla

Dr. Clariza Ruiz De Castilla is a faculty member in both the Chicano Studies and Communication Studies Departments at CSULB. She is a first-generation student from a working-class Peruvian immigrant background. She is a rhetorician whose research interests include immigrant discourse, border rhetorics, and reggaeton. She earned her PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013 and arrived to the Beach the following year. She is currently teaching freshman composition and public speaking.
