Research Interests
Prof. Luuga has a background that includes a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a master’s degree in Gerontology from CSULB. He has been a United States Army Reservist working as Medical Operations Officer since 2022. He has worked with Non-Government Organizations such as International Organization for Migration (IOM), Qatari Red Crescent (QRC) and Qatar University. Professor Luuga has worked with children and families of diverse backgrounds worldwide and continues to work with managing Soldiers at his unit. Prof. Luuga’s research interests include Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (NHPI) Aging and Development, Social Determinants to health equity and access, and international relations with health policy and reform. Prof. Luuga hopes to bring real world and academic experiences to the Human Development department.
