Mission Statement

  • HeART Lab serves as a hub for student researchers to develop the mindset and skills necessary to effectively create and competitively contribute to bodies of research focused on the mind-body connection.
  • We study the attention system and threat-related cognitive biases to better understand innovative solutions and computerized interventions to assist with the tempering of anxiety and stress-physiology. We also study other concepts such as Heart Rate Variability, Interoception, and Biofeedback.
  • Our research focuses on the psychosocial determinants of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, with a particular emphasis on the pathways (endocrine, autonomic) through which health disparities in CVD may arise.
