Film Screening and Discussion: “Close to the Sun” (FREE ADMISSION)

Beijing Film Academy Professor Huang Shixian and the film’s director, Chou-chou, will be on campus to preview and discuss the new film.

Film Synopsis: The Vistas are mesmerizing. The culture fascinating. With glimmering cinematography, “Close to the Sun” takes us to a world that is rarely seen. Pauline, a French painter, is suffering from an unknown disease. She has lost hope for life and only wants to find a place where she can die peacefully. She begins to travel and finds herself in a beautiful village of the Miao people located in the depth of the mountains of Guizhou, a southeast province in China. She decides to stay and rest until her heart takes her away, without knowing that there is a mysterious connection between herself and the sun of the Miao people.
