Metropolitan and Policy Studies Network (MAPS): "Sport in the City — Race, Class, Youth, and Sports in the Urban Landscape"

Professor Scott Brooks (UCR), author of Black Men Can’t Shoot (University of Chicago Press)

Professor James McKeever (Pierce College)

De Shon Andrews (CSULB Sociology MA student and youth mentor / coach)

The event is a student-friendly event.  It will delve into contemporary issues of race, class, sports, mentorship, and masculinity from a community cultural wealth (ccw) perspective.

All 3 presenters are sociologists as well as seasoned basketball coaches / youth mentors.  This event is sure to resonate with many students.
