We are pleased to announce our first speaker for the spring semester, Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz, who will speak at the Alpert JCC (3801 E. Willow St.) on Thursday, February 3rd, beginning at 7:30 pm. His topic: “Making the Unethical Treyf.”

Rabbi Yanklowitz is the founder and president of Uri L’tzedek, a national Jewish social justice organization. In 2007, a film crew from PBS followed him for over a year to produce a documentary film (“The Calling”), which aired last month. One of his major projects, which he will discuss during his talk, has been the need to create an ethical standard for kosher and Jewish-owned businesses.

As always, Jewish Studies talks are free and open to the public.
