The George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies: Guest Lecture — Dr. Luisa Del Giudice

The George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies welcomes Dr. Luisa Del Giudice. The title of her lecture is “Collecting and Connecting: Oral History, Oral Culture, and Italian Americans.”

Dr. Giudice is the Founder and Executive Director of the Italian Oral History Institute (IOHI), a non-profit, community-based research and public education organization. The purpose of the IOHI is to collect, preserve, and make accessible materials that relate to the culture and history of Italians in California. Dr. Giudice received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1987. She was Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian Folklore at UCLA from1995 to 2001. She has published and lectured widely on Italian and Italian American folklife, from foodways and oral expression to material culture, children’s literature, and belief. She has also produced many public events on Italian and Mediterranean regional and folk culture in Los Angeles, California.
