The George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies, the CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory for Music Opera Institute, and Club Italia: "The Language of Da Ponte, the Magic of Mozart — Figaro"

Professor Daniela Zappador‐Guerra (CSULB) will present the introduction and biography of Opera Librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte.

Dr. David Anglin (The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Opera Institute, CSULB) will present the conventions of opera buffa/opera seria. He will provide examples in the text of Figaro and discuss how Mozart set them to music. Recitativo ‐ both secco and accompagnato and the wonder of how opera allows the various characters to express different things within the same music.

Students of The Bob Cole Conservatory Opera Institute, CSULB will play selected arias and ensembles from Figaro.
