Freyermuth is a founding co-director and Professor of Media and Game Studies at the Cologne Game Lab of TH Köln-University of Technology, Arts and Sciences, as well as Professor of Comparative Media Studies at the IFS International Film School of Cologne and representative of the Film and Media Board of North Rhine-Westphalia.
