Assessing Antisemitism in America Today

October 16, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

On Monday, October 16th, we will welcome back Dr. Dov Waxman to Long Beach to speak about “Assessing Antisemitism in America Today.”  His talk will be at the Alpert JCC (3801 E. Willow St), beginning at 7 pm.

Dr. Waxman provided this brief description of his talk, based on his current research project:

“Antisemitism seems to be resurgent in the United States today, and American Jews are increasingly concerned about it. There is, however, little agreement over how much antisemitism there actually is, where it is coming from, and why it is growing. In my talk, I will discuss different ways of assessing antisemitism. I will also weigh in on the ongoing debate over whether leftwing or rightwing antisemitism is the biggest problem currently facing American Jews.”

Dr. Waxman is the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation Chair in Israel Studies and Director of the UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies.

Like all Jewish Studies talks, these talks are free and open to the public. For reasons of security, the AJCC is asking people to rsvp first (this will speed you through check in):  https://jewishlongbeach.regfox.com/csulb-jewish-studies-speaker-series
