Our Annual Review of American and California Politics with Speaker Dr. Sonenshein

December 6, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The CSULB Jewish Studies Program is delighted to welcome Dr. Raphael Sonenshein back to Long Beach to discuss the state of American and California politics.  He will be speaking at the Alpert JCC (3801 E. Willow St., Long Beach) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6th.

We’ve been inviting Dr. Sonenshein to Long Beach every December since 2016 for two very good reasons.  First, he has an almost unique ability to calmy and cogently discuss the hottest issues in American political.  Second, he is able to do so in an engaging way with a fair amount of humor (something that is always welcome).  For good reason, he remains one of our most popular speakers.

Dr. Sonenshein is a professor of political science and the newly appointed new executive director of the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation.  An expert in Los Angeles politics, and the author of two books on the subject, Dr. Sonenshein’s views are regularly quoted by the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Orange County Register, and Reuters.  He also writes a column on local and national politics for the Jewish Journal

Like all Jewish Studies talks, these talks are free and open to the public. For reasons of security, the AJCC is asking people to rsvp first (this will speed you through check in):  https://jewishlongbeach.regfox.com/csulb-jewish-studies-speaker-series.  Also note that because of recent events, security will record the license plates of all cars entering the parking lot, so please give yourself a little more time when arriving.

For more information on this talk or fall 2023 events, please contact Dr. Jeffrey Blutinger, Jeffrey.Blutinger@csulb.edu .
