Breaking Down the Walls: Deaf and Disabled Immigrant Experiences

Supported by CSULB Scholarly Intersections series by the American Sign Language Linguistics and Deaf Cultures (ASLD) program in collaboration with the Sociology (SOC) and Anthropology (ANTH) departments
“Breaking Down the Walls: Deaf and Disabled Immigrant Experiences.”
Five immigrant advocate panelists from a wide range of experiences, including Deaf immigrants from different countries of origin and hearing family members, will talk about the intersections of being Deaf and/or having deaf family members, their immigrant experiences, and reflections as immigrant advocates. Speaker presentations will be followed by a roundtable discussion, and the event will be concluded with an open discussion involving audience members.
