SIG Event: Racialization in a Global Context: A Talk with Dr. Suraj Yengde

Dr. Suraj Yengde is one of India’s leading scholars and public intellectuals. Named as one of the 25 Most Influential Young Indians by GQ magazine and the Most Influential Young Dalit by Zee, Suraj is author of the best-seller Caste Matters and co-editor of the award-winning anthology The Radical in Ambedkar. Suraj’s forthcoming book by Allen Lane is on caste in the world. He curates “Dalitality” at The Indian Express. He is currently working on a research project on Dalit and Black intellectual histories at Oxford while he holds associate position at Harvard. In this talk, Suraj will discuss his forthcoming publication on Dalit, Burakumins, and Roma connections, as he examines racialization across three continents.
