Dr. William Mulligan
Dr. William Mulligan taught in the Department of Journalism & Public Relations from 1986 to 2011. During his time with the university, he served as chair of the department from 1992 to 1997 and taught courses in copy editing, law of mass communications, news writing and reporting, and world press. He was also publisher for the Daily 49er and University Magazine and head of the newspaper, magazine and print journalism options. In addition, he served as associate faculty in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies and conducted research on Chinese journalism and Chinese journalism education.
Dr. Mulligan holds a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Missouri, a master’s degree in communication with an emphasis in journalism from Murray State University, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brescia College. He previously taught at Stephen F. Austin State University and the University of Missouri and worked as a copy editor and editor for newspapers in Ohio and Kentucky.
