mxdwn: mxdwn, an entertainment news site, is looking for a ooking for a passionate writer with strong and varied interests in the video game industry and community. As an intern, you would be expected to keep up to date with what’s going on in the gaming industry. Writers are encouraged to go out and find the news that is relevant, fresh, and interesting to a broad gaming audience. They also are expected to be able to research, source information, and then convey that news in a well-structured, engaging article. This is an internship for someone who is passionate about fitness and wants to learn more working alongside the company’s CEO and social media manager. KLBP FM: Under the supervision of the general manager, the journalism intern will assist with the creation and production of news and public affairs programming for KLBP, Long Beach Public Radio. Los Angeles magazine: Los Angeles magazine is looking for detail-oriented, thorough, resourceful, intuitive, and determined self-starter students with excellent communication skills to intern in its editorial department. Responsibilities include fact-checking, conducting research, and submitting story ideas with the possibility of writing them. Fact-checking is not always as easy as it sounds. You may need to contact the celebrity of the moment or outwit a word-savvy politician. In researching subjects, you’d work directly with writers and editors in putting stories together (which may include doing some reporting). My Data Machine: Based in Santa Monica, My Data Machine is a data services company specializing in Fashion AI. The International Radio & Television Society Foundation (IRTS)  is a great organization and I have done one of their faculty fellowship programs. They just opened their 2024 summer student fellowship for applications. It’s a 9-week, all-expense-paid fellowship in New York. You live in a dorm in Manhattan, and they place you in a full-time, paid internship with a top NYT media company. It’s open to all students and you do not need to be radio/TV focused. American Association for the Advancement of Science: The AAAS Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Internship is a paid 10-week summer internship at the Washington, D.C. headquarters of Science magazine. The paid internship also provides for travel to and from the internship site in Washington, D.C. This is a full-time paid internship for the summer based in Washington, D.C. Interns work as full-time science journalists under the guidance of Science News staff. Former Science News interns have gone on to staff positions with the New York Times, the Washington Post, NOVA, ABC television, and the Associated Press, among others. Fresno Bee: The Fresno Bee is hiring a reporting intern for a 10-week paid internship for summer 2024. The Bee expects applicants to understand basic news standards and ethics as well as to the skillset to produce content. Previous experience reporting for a student or professional news publication is a plus. Interns need to report thoroughly, write clearly and grasp the elements of storytelling, recognizing visual components and social connections. Apply through the McClatchy website.

NBC 4: NBC 4 LA offers paid summer internships in news and photography.  Applicants must be willing to work in Universal City.
