Translating Firefox and Beyond

Translating Firefox and Beyond: Crowd-Sourced Localization of Free Open-Source Software

Mozilla’s products—like the Firefox web-browser, Thunderbird e-mail client and the Common Voice project, among others—are used daily by millions of people. Most of these programs are released under free software licenses, which means that their translation into other languages is encouraged. This process (software localization) is undertaken by self-organizing language communities (crowd-sourcing), some of them seriously endangered.

Join us for this talk by Mozilla’s Localization Program Managers, where they will share the intricacies of the management of the translation of their products into hundreds of languages around the world.
