Presentation of the novel Planeta Rojo by Eliecer Almaguer

The Latin American Studies Program would like to invite you to the presentation of the novel Planeta Rojo (2021) by our very own Eliécer Almaguer published in Cuba this past January. This event is organized by Latin American Studies in collaboration with the Spanish Graduate Students Association, and will be presented by Dr. Lucía Guerra-Cunningham. 

 

Please join us in celebrating this great accomplishment by one of our MA Students. 

Eliécer Almaguer was born in Holguín, Cuba, 1982. He lived his childhood in a small rural town, cared for by the warmth of his paternal grandparents, an experience that would inspire the writing of his first novel. He has published several poetry collections: Canción para despertar al forastero, Ediciones La Luz, (2011); Si Dios voltease el rostro“, Cáritas, (2011); La flauta del solitario, Ediciones Holguín (2013); (awarded the National Award for poetry Adelaida del Mármol 2012 and the distinction La puerta de papel, for the best-selling book), Distorsiones del shamisen, Aldabón (2017), and the novel El planeta rojo, Ediciones La Luz 2021. He lives in California, United States, he is a Teaching Associate of Spanish ​​at CSULB Long Beach University, and he is currently completing his MA in Spanish at CSULB.
