A History of Exhibitions in the Americas: Curating Brazilian Art

On Monday, April 4, Dr. Fernanda Pitta, Associate Professor of Curatorial Processes at Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo, will participate as guest speaker in the art history undergraduate seminar “A History of Exhibitions in the Americas.” This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

Dr. Fernanda Pitta is Associate Professor of Curatorial Processes at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo.  Her research interests focus on the discussion of paradigms of national art and the place of indigenous art in Brazilian Modern and Contemporary art narratives. She was FAPESP Fellow, AAMC and AAMC Foundation Fellow, Clark Art Institute Fellow, Getty Library Grant Fellow, and Visiting Scholar at Fakultet for kunst, musikk og design, Norway. She coordinates, with Susanna van der Watt and Lizabé Lambrechts, the 4-year project “Decay Without Mourning: Future-thinking heritage practices”, funded by the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond. Among her most recent curatorial projects are Nobody would have believed: Alvim Correa and 10 contemporary artists (Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Feb-April 2022) and Eleonore Koch: open space (MAR-Rio, March-May 2022).
